Raccoon

On my way home from my daily walk (well, I try) with camera bag on my shoulder, I saw a raccoon sunbathing comfortably in the eavestroughing. This raccoon was out during the day. By the size, it looks like a younger raccoon. It seemed alert though relaxed while sunbathing. It did not seem to be sick or rabid. Reportedly, raccoons with rabies are rare in Toronto. Rabid bats are far more common in Ontario.

Shot in 4K Ultra HD with Panasonic Lumix DMC-G7 camera using the Lumix G X Vario 35-100mm zoom lens.

Edited and produced using CyberLink PowerDirector 14 Ultra.

When I recorded my raccoon video, thoughts of rabies crossed my mind. I became increasingly apprehensive with each step closer to the raccoon. I had visions of the raccoon jumping off the eavestroughing to attack me - and crashing my camera onto the ground. That would have made a nice viral video, except there wasn't another camera recording the cameraman.

On Dec 28, 2015, Toronto police officer was taken to hospital after bite from a sick raccoon. CTV Toronto News segment "Raccoon bites police officer" interrupts my raccoon video.
