Search Engine Optimization
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and the broader scope of Search Engine Marketing (SEM) are complex areas for which I have little experience. My thoughts and plans are to investigate this area more seriously with consideration to commission SEO/SEM consultant services.
In early 2010, I was in discussions with an SEO firm looking for sales reps to sign up customers for their SEO service to create micro pages yielding high ranking position in local search results. e.g. <local area> real-estate
The compensation model was 30% of the $1000 sign-up fee plus annual residuals on customer renewals. Any other development work that they might get would yield revenue to them without a commission cut to me, the sales rep. When I dug deeper into things like what their guarantee is regarding high ranking results, they waffled. In the end, I walked away from the situation as it did not appear to be on solid ground. I believe they were looking to grow their website development business using SEO as front-end bait. One has to be very careful about SEO claims.
I programmed my website to be SEO friendly to the search engines. This includes showing keywords in the page title, URL and heading.
On a related front, I will be considering various marketing methods to bring new and return visitors to my site. This includes the use of social networking and Web 2.0 paradigms in general.
Paying for SEO services is a consideration as there are more than enough providers offering such services for on-page and off-page SEO. Here are tips for finding an SEO provider that you might find helpful.
